New Mom Memoirs

Introducing a new blog series: New Mom Memoirs.

Hi there, I’m Keri! I’m a certified Doula, a baby product expert, and the proud owner of Devoted Doula Care. I’m also mom to a busy toddler and a newborn who recently turned three months old (and yes I still call her my “newborn”). My life is a whirlwind of joy, challenges, and sleepless nights.

As a Doula who regularly works with parents-to-be and new moms, supporting them as they transition through childbirth and postpartum, I’m now living through this very journey myself (again). This second time around, however, is different. I entered it with MUCH more knowledge and a deeper understanding of what to expect, but it turns out that that doesn’t necessarily make it any easier. Every postpartum journey is unique, shaped by various factors—whether it's the dynamics within your family, the health of yourself/your child, or simply the shift in your own identity. With my first child, I was overwhelmed with the sheer volume of new experiences. I’m still overwhelmed, but in different and surprising ways.

Reflecting on my current postpartum experience, I realized how valuable it might be to share some of these thoughts, experiences, and challenges with others. This led me to start this blog series, New Mom Memoirs. Through these blog posts, I will share excerpts from my personal journal, reflections on the challenges of being a new mom, and some of the wisdom I’ve gathered as a professional in this field.

I hope that as you read this series, something resonates with you. Whether you’re in the middle of your postpartum journey (which never truly ends) or simply reflecting on your own experiences as a parent, I would love to hear from you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—whether to share your story, ask questions, or even just to connect. One of the best things about being a Doula is the ability to support and learn from other parents.

Here’s to navigating the wild and wonderful journey of parenthood! Keep an eye out for the first installment of New Mom Memoirs coming soon.
